This installs the Beam CLI, opens your browser to sign in or create an account, and connects the coding agents it finds, such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex. It doesn’t create any resources. Then pick a quickstart.

Give an Agent a Dev Box

Create a persistent VM, put a project on it, and share a private URL. About 5 minutes.

Run Agent Code in a Sandbox

Run code in a disposable sandbox, serve a URL, and fork it from a snapshot.

Deploy an Inference Endpoint

Run a Python function in the cloud and deploy it as an autoscaling API.

Set Up Your Coding Agent

Connect Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex so it can create and operate VMs for you.

Virtual Machines

Persistent Linux machines with a durable root disk, SSH, and stable URLs.

Overview

Create a VM, connect over SSH, and drive it from code.

Lifecycle

Pause with RAM intact, sleep when idle, and resume on demand.

Storage and Snapshots

Restore points, forks, and private templates.

Networking

Protected URLs, persistent IPv6, and outbound rules.

Secrets

Real keys stay off the VM and reach only approved hosts.

Desktop

A Linux desktop your agent can screenshot, click, and type in.

Sandboxes

Disposable environments for running untrusted or agent-generated code. They boot in seconds, can attach a GPU, and fork from snapshots.

Overview

Processes, files, and lifecycle.

Snapshots and Forking

Save filesystem or memory state and fork it.

Networking

Preview URLs and outbound rules.

Docker in Sandboxes

Build and run containers inside a sandbox.

Inference

Serve models on GPUs next to your agents, or call a hosted model without deploying one.

Deploy Your Own Model

Any Python model as an autoscaling endpoint.

Call a Hosted Model

OpenAI-compatible API, no deployment.

Streaming

Stream tokens and realtime responses.

Cold Starts

Pre-loading, snapshots, and checkpoints.

Building Blocks

The pieces around your VMs, sandboxes, and models.

Task Queues

Async jobs with retries and callbacks.

Functions and Scheduled Jobs

One-off functions, fan-out, and cron schedules.

Containers and Pods

Deploy any Dockerfile or image as a service.

Databases and Storage

Postgres, Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, volumes, and disks.

Stacks

Group related apps and connect their configuration.

Dashboard

Deploy repositories and inspect your workspace in the browser.

Where It Runs

VMs, sandboxes, and deployed apps run on Beam’s cloud. Compute pools add reserved capacity and your own hardware. Beta9, the open-source runtime behind Beam, can be self-hosted, though it doesn’t include every Beam Cloud feature.
The Python SDK covers VMs, sandboxes, and Beam’s decorator programming model for functions, endpoints, and task queues. The JavaScript and TypeScript SDK covers VMs and sandboxes and calls deployed endpoints. The VM SDK guide shows both languages side by side.
